The Final Fantasy franchise has long been a staple for Square Enix over the years and Final Fantasy Explorers has just been announced and the new action-role playing / adventure game will be coming stateside exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. Dive headlong into dungeons with the goal of collecting crystals scattered throughout the world all while battling classic enemies recognizable from the Final Fantasy franchise. While the vast majority of Final Fantasy games are single player, Final Fantasy Explorers will let you play solo, but will focus on cooperative play with friends using a party system giving you the abilities to master over 20 jobs (both classic and new). It wouldn’t be a Final Fantasy game without summons, so Eidolons like Ifrit and Bahamut will be available and you will also be able to transform into other legendary characters from the Final Fantasy series via the Trance feature.

A glimpse of the story from the press release:

The world is on the brink of war over its reserves of crystals, the planet’s chief source of power. Players must band together to form an elite squad of Explorers on an island rich in crystals, braving hordes of monsters in hopes of conquering a newly discovered Grand Crystal – every Explorer’s dream.

Look for Final Fantasy Explorers on January 26, 2016. Check out the announcement trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments.
