Evolution, the largest fighting game tournament in the world, took place last weekend and with it came a ton of new Street Fighter V information. Capcom held a panel during all the action and detailed the plan that will be used for the newest iteration in the series. Capcom hit across 3 major points during their panel for the strategy of Street Fighter V’s release.

  • The initial release is the only disc you will ever need to own
  • All balance and system adjustments will be available for free
  • All post-launch gameplay related content will be earnable for free by playing the game.

Street Fighter V will be adapting a “freemium” style gameplay. Players will be able to access all gameplay related content for free using in game currency dubbed fight money. Those who prefer to just buy the content will have the option by purchasing zenny and spending that on only what they want. When SFV launches it will have 16 characters at launch and more being released over time. Check out the Neogaf post straight from the panel and head over to the PlayStation Blog for more details.

If you can’t wait to wait to get your hands on Street Fighter V your in luck. Preordering at most retailers will give you beta access on July 23rd to the 28th. After playing a bit at EVO I can say Street Fighter V is living up to the hype. Let us know if you will be testing out some online play this weekend.
