There are few games more highly anticipated on Nintendo consoles than that of the Super Smash Bros. Series. Back in 1999, Nintendo released the first Super Smash Bros. on N64 in America and since its debut the series has been nothing but an overwhelming success for Nintendo. In the great on going console war, Nintendo is preparing to release yet another successor to the series, this time on 3DS and Wii U. With the 3DS release just around the corner this Summer, we’ve created a list of the top 10 characters we’d like to see in the next Super Smash Bros. even if many of the them will never happen.

The Tactician

Tactician 2

From: Fire Emblem: Awakening

In Fire Emblem: Awakening you play as the Tactician of the group. You can be a boy or girl, have any fighting style you desire, and there is room for lots of customization such as who you marry or the sound of your voice. This customization would justify a character’s skins offering both boy and girl skins. Your character wields two types of weapons Tomes and Swords. This fighting style would not only be a great addition to the list of Fire Emblem characters already in Super Smash Bros. such as Roy or Marth, but would also bring a sword fighting mage which would feel similar to a mix of Princess Zelda and Link. Naming the character The Tactician would not be that strange either considering there is already Wii Fit Trainer and Villager.

Ridley

ridley

From: Metroid (Series)

Ridley is a classic villain from the Metroid series. Because she has already been announced as a sort of boss in the game, I will not dive too deep into this particular want. However, I still feel as though having Ridley as a playable character would be an excellent addition to the Metroid universe pool of characters. Aside from Samus, Ridley is the most recurring character in the series.

Zero

zero

From: Mega Man (Series)

Mega Man is an already exciting addition to the Super Smash Bros. roster, but I think adding one more who has already seen the fighting genre in other games would be a cherry on top. Zero has always been an excellent parallel character to Mega Man. Zero, aside from his arm blaster Zero has pretty epic set of weapons including a Z-Saber and Chain Rod.

Mickey & Oswald

mickey and oswald

From: Epic Mickey: The Power of Two

Aside from Mickey already being such an iconic character in all kinds of media, this particular duo would be an awesome addition to the game. Mickey and Oswald working together would feel similar to ice climbers or Rosalina and Luna. Mickey who would use his magic paint brush kit and Oswald who wields primarily technology could have an incredible variety of special moves and attacks. I picture their specials being somewhat separate but their auto-attacks would feature both of them punching, kicking, smashing, etc at the same time. The potential for this epic crossover cameo would be an amazing experience to the say the least.

Lego Guy

emmet

From: Lego Games (Series)

I think it’s important to note that this character could go one of two ways if not both. First, the Lego Guy could legitimately just be Emmet from the Lego Movie or the character could be a mix of all the lego guy games like Lego Star Wars and offer moves that take from all of the Lego Games. Granted I think you could definitely get away with having it be both, but it’s worth mentioning. The recent hype from the Lego Movie would certainly build an even greater foundation for the series and the lego universe.

Knuckles

knuckles

From: Sonic (Series)

Knuckles is an iconic Sonic character that matches nicely with Tails and Amy Rose. However, of the three other characters that consistently follow and aid Sonic in his travels, Knuckles in my opinion would be the best addition. Given the upcoming Sonic reboot, this would be a nice chance to feature more characters of the series especially a brute force character like Knuckles whom, I imagine would fight at a speed similar to Bowser or Donkey Kong but with spins similar to Sonic.

Isaac

isaac

From: Golden Sun (Series)

Isaac is one of the more memorable characters from the Golden Sun series. Isaac saw a brief appearance as an assist trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but I feel it’s time he received a bigger role in the Smash universe. Isaac is a Venus Adept which gives him the ability to use strong sorcery magic based around earth and plant matter. His ability to use psynergy to control earth elements would bring a similar fighting style to that of something like Ness or Lucas.

Maxwell

maxwell

From: Scribblenauts (Series)

Maxwell  has the ability to write words and create just about anything into the universe. His specials and attacks could focus on this somewhat random ability. Each directional attack/special could be related to a very specific set of words such as words related to ascending (think: up+special). Another example might be something like his over+special could be a ranged attack where the words he writes are anything from slingshot to potato gun to batarang. The potential for this character of the imagination is greater than imaginable.

Ralph

ralph

From: Wreck it Ralph (Movie)

Although Wreck It Ralph’s gaming debut was not necessarily met with positive reception, Ralph naturally fits into the Super Smash Bros. universe. Aside from already being alongside other fighters such as Zangief and Bowser himself in the movie, Ralph would surely find himself wrecking the competition.

Sora

sora

From: Kingdom Hearts (Series)

Sora’s epic tale of defeating the relentless darkness while fighting countless heartless, nobodies, unversed, data bugs, etc may have been an epic one, but Sora is also known for being relentlessly goofy. Sora’s characteristics parallel nicely to the universe of Super Smash Bros. which is known for being as equally epic as it is silly. Square Enix characters have seen many different consoles; many Square Enix characters have also been in fighting games. Sora, was not included and I think this is the perfect time to see what sort of play style Sora and his iconic Keyblade could bring to Super Smash Bros.
