Evolve was released 18 months ago, but that hasn’t stopped developer Turtle Rock studios from continuing to update their game. Turtle Rock is taking Evolve into what they call “stage 2”. This includes major updates to the game and going free to play, however this is considered a beta and only available on PC.

According to the release notes “This is more than just an update; we overhauled almost every system and achieved our goal of converting Evolve into a free game. We’ve added and updated numerous features, fixed tons of bugs, improved stability and performance across the board, and completely redesigned many aspects of the game.”

The notes for the 2.0 version can all be found on the Evolve webpage, but Turtle Rock has seemed to change a ton of stuff from the original release. You can read our review of the 2015 edition here.

Feeling burned by purchasing the game? Don’t worry you will be given “founder” status and all the content unlocked will stay that way. Founders will also be awarded some special goodies for supporting Evolve from early on.

Will going free to play give the user base a shot in the arm it desperately needs? Let us know if you plan on jumping back into Evolve or trying it out for the first time. As always stay tuned to New Gamer Nation for all your gaming updates.
