The 2001 PS2 crossover fighter, Capcom Vs SNK 2, will be hitting PSN next week. Unlike the recent HD remixes of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD or Darkstalkers Resurrection, this game will land as a PS2 Classic.

The release was confirmed in the Playstation Blogcast earlier today. While I feel this is a missed opportunity to expand the audience online, at least the game is not being forgotten entirely.

Capcom Vs SNK 2 contains 48 characters in a 3 vs 3 style fight. The game has several different “Grooves” which allow you to pick a playstyle more akin to Street Fighter III or Garou: Mark of the Wolves. Considered a classic, this version does not contain the EO update that was released on Gamecube and Xbox.
