Duncan Jones has been a star on the rise since his breakout film Moon, which won a BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British director, writer or producer. He also directed Source Code, which had an interesting premise and good world building, but in my opinion, had both a completely flawed script and a Jake Gyllenhaal who did not seem like he enjoyed being in the film.

He is the most recent name to take other the position of director for the World of Warcraft film. Sam Raimi, originally penned to direct the film, left the project last summer to direct Oz the Great and Powerful.

The script was originally penned by screenwriter Robert Rodat of Saving Private Ryan fame. Now it is being written by Charles Roven of Blood Diamond fame. Overall, the film looks very promising as it has a lot of good talent seeked to work on the project. The story also seems to be a film about characters in war and very troubled circumstances.

“Can the project compete with Avengers 2, Star Wars Episode VII: and Pirates of the Caribbean 5?” is another question however.
