Electronic Arts just announced that Dead Space 3 will include a micro-transaction system. This system will allow you to spend cash to purchase things like raw materials and scrap parts used to modify and create weapons. EA said that this system is completely optional and not necessary to play the game.

There are no specifics available per the cost of the transactions or how many in-game items you will receive. EA wants to ensure gamers that this system will not throw off the balance of the game or give gamers access to high level weapons early in the game.

Dead Space 3 will be released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on February 5 in the United States and February 8 in Europe.
