Due to a lack of updates from Blizzard Entertainment on a proposed name change payment service for Starcraft II, all players have been offered one name change free of charge.

In their official post on the matter, Blizzard said “we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that the lack of name change options has caused,” adding that “the fact that we didn’t keep you updated when we deprioritized the feature was a mistake.”

Blizzard went on to say that they would release more information about the paid name changes after Heart of the Swarm,  the next Starcraft II expansion pack, was released. Players will also get another free name change when the revamped ‘Clans’ feature is launched in the next couple months, meaning that players don’t have to remove their clan tag now.
