David Anfossi, Head of Eidos Montreal, has revealed on the Deus Ex blog a new ambitious project his studio has been working on.  This project called Deus Ex Universe is an on going project aimed at expanding and connecting the world of Deus Ex created from the core games of the franchise.  Anfossi’s vision for this project is to bring games to consoles and PC’s while also creating games and content for other media sources (e.g. tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc).  Anfossi says:

“It’s a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before.”

The starting point of Deus Ex Universe will begin with a brand new game for PC and next-gen consoles.  The concept art from the new game (which can be seen above) features a “ghetto city” that was voluntarily built to segregate trans-humans from humans.  According to Anfossi, “The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance.”

A release date and trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut was also revealed in the same blog post.  The Director’s Cut will be made available on Oct. 22nd for the Wii U, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.  The Director’s Cut will include a second screen feature that will utilize the Wii U’s GamePad, Microsoft’s SmartGlass and the PS Vita.  The second screen feature is designed to offer a new way to experience the game.
