vivendi-reportedly-pulling-activision-money

In a surprising (or not so surprising depending on how up-to-date you were with Vivendi’s troubles), Activision forked over 8 billion dollars in a land mark agreement which effectively lets Activision buy itself back and return as an independent company. This comes off the news that Vivendi had failed to bid Activision away and was instead considering a ‘cash grab’ option. Bobby Kotick, Activision CEO, has attempted to buy back the company in the past without success, but it appears that recent Vivendi financial troubles have twisted their arm in the form of an 8 billion dollar deal.

“These transactions together represent a tremendous opportunity for Activision Blizzard and all its shareholders, including Vivendi,” -Bobby Kotick, Activision CEO.

Only time will tell how these changes effect Activision and it’s meriad of studio developers.
