An upcoming Xbox One system update will tweak the console’s party chat and fix DVR bugs, among other things, according to participants in the Xbox One preview program.

The update, thrillingly titled Update 1405 (xb_rel_1405.140509-2200), will adjust some of the console UI and fix issues with title updates, playing disc based games and problems with party chat and surround sound. The Xbox One will also now let you know if there is a pending system update in the settings screen without having to search for one. Microsoft has also stated that they are working on fixing problems with Energy Saving Mode/boot times and Kinect infinite loops.

This update is on track with Microsoft’s recent statement concerning pushing more system updates to make the Xbox One OS better and better, as this is the second this month. However, let’s hope it doesn’t come to Playstation 3 levels. There is no word on when this update will be available to the public, but we can assume it’s soon.

Ongoing Known Issues Being Investigated

  • Some consoles that have been fully powered off or are in Energy Saving mode may experience a slightly longer time to power on. These users may also note that a longer time without anything displayed on screen than normal.
