San Diego’s Comic Con has wrapped up, and I thought it would be a nice opportunity to give everyone a Top 5 of some of the announcements from San Diego, as they pertain to the world of gaming. So if you want a brief recap, or if you missed all the announcements made, take a seat and read what is in store for you.

5) Fortnite Information
Chances are you’ve played a game using the Unreal Engine 3. A fair share of games have run on the engine. The news coming out of the San Diego Comic Con was Epic Games’ next title Fortnite, will be the first game to run on the Unreal 4 engine and it will also be a PC exclusive game. Fortnite takes a wild departure from Epic’s most recently successful franchise in Gears of War, where you build forts during the day to ward off zombie like creatures at night. In Fortnite, friends will help you in your quest to ward off the husks, once living beings, the husks have had their life sucked out of them by some greater force. This greater force will be the game’s main antagonist. No release date has been given other than it’s due out sometime in 2013.

4) Two new characters announced for Injustice: Gods Among Us
If you don’t know about Injustice: Gods Among Us, hopefully this will get your attention. Netherrealm Studios, the team behind the most recent Mortal Kombat game, is making a new fighting game with DC Comics characters. Heroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Flash, will fight against villains such as Solomon Grundy, and Harley Quinn. Those were the confirmed characters until this weekend where Netherrealm announced Nightwing and Cyborg as two new additions to the Injustice roster.

3) Street Fighter: The Assassin’s Fist
Anyone who has seen the Street Fighter: Legacy fan made short film will be happy to know Capcom has hired the film makers Joey Ansah and Christian Howard to develop a live action web series called Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist. The story will be about into the origins of Ryu and Ken, as well as delving into their master, Gouken’s past.

2) Mortal Kombat Legacy-Season 2
The live action web series was developed last year telling origin stories of select Mortal Kombat characters. Now, in the second season the action will pick up, as they will tell show off more of the tournament aspect of the Mortal Kombat story. With a new story and a few new characters, maybe we’ll finally see the “Fatality” that made Mortal Kombat famous…and infamous in some circles.

1) A Deadpool Video Game

Yes, you read that right, there will be a video game based on Marvel Comics’ “merc with a mouth”, Deadpool. High Moon Studios, the team behind the Transformers games, not the movie games, will be developing the game, with Activision publishing the game. The teaser trailer shows some of the gameplay and hilarity. It also looks to take some nods from the comic with the thought boxes, and breaking the fourth wall. Also, it sounds a lot like Nolan North is reprising his role as Deadpool. Personally I think this game is in very good hands.

There you have it everyone. Was there something you were excited about from this year’s San Diego Comic Con? Let us know in the comment section, and stay tuned to New Gamer Nation for more stuff you care about.
