E3 is coming soon and the video game announcements will be coming hot and heavy. Every major games publisher and developer will be well represented as they give us all a peek at the future of gaming. Granted, this is the first E3 since the next generation of gaming was released, but this is the time where the focus shifts from hardware and hardware speculation to games. Frankly, that is where the most interesting stuff is anyways. Let’s take this opportunity to take a look at our top 5 predicted highlights from this year’s show. Full disclosure: we do not have any information on the games we are going to discuss, this is pure speculation.

Mirrors-Edge-Feature

5. Mirror’s Edge 2 – The first game in the franchise make first person running fun and interesting. Now it is time for the sequel to take things to the next level. We have high hopes for this game and we hope that this sequel captures the same tone and pacing as the first game did. Can it power its way to hte top of the charts? Or will the game flop over the same old mechanics we’ve played over-and-over again? Our money is on the former.

4. Dying Light – The developers at Techland have been very tight-lipped about the details with Dying Light. We got our hands on the game back in PAX Prime and the game looked good initially. We believe that this will be the time for the game to take a step forward and show us what it is all about. We know that Techland can make a great zombie game and we feel that doing what they do on the next-gen platform can only produce great things.

Assassins-Creed-Unity-feature-672x372

3. Assassin’s Creed Unity – Assassin’s Creed has been a huge part of gaming and it has become a yearly endeavor built upon several excellent games. With the next generation here and waiting, Ubisoft will not hold back as they show off what the new systems are capable of. They will also take the opportunity to take one of their flagship franchises to the next level on the big stage. Expect big things from this game, we sure are.

metal gear solid 4

2. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain – Okay, so many people were not too happy with the prequel – Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes. However, the main complaint about that game was how short it was in general. Now imagine the gameplay of MGS5 but make it a full length game and that will be something special. Expect lots more gameplay, more Kiefer Sutherland and more Kojima goodness.

playstation

1. Whatever Sony has up its sleeve – We know that Sony is going to announce something great and give people even more incentive to go out and get a PS4. Whether that is a new God of War game, more information about Uncharted 4 or something completely different, Sony is up to something. If we were betting people, and for all intents and purposes; we are, our money is on Sony stealing the show with a blockbuster announcement. You heard it here first!
