IGN has just confirmed that Titanfall 2 is preparing to drop from space on our heads. IGN spoke with Respawn Entertainment founder and CEO Vince Zampella, who put an end to the rumors with a somewhat straightforward answer:

I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don’t know anything about it, or… yeah. So we’re working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we’re working on that. That’s the main focus but we’re starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It’ll be multiplatform.

EA has been teasing Titanfall 2 for some time now, with their CFO Blake Jorgensen mentioning platforms all the way back in February. Zameplla went on to explain that developing Titanfall as an Xbox One exclusive was what IGN calls a “business decision.”

There’s no word on whether or not Titanfall 2 will contain an offline single-player mode, however. According to Zampella, the team over at Respawn is still deliberating, saying “I think it takes a while to figure that out and we haven’t figured it out yet.”

The first Titanfall is multiplayer-only, with a barebones online-only campaign that’s little more than a string of regular competitive games with a thin overarching narrative. The inclusion of a dedicated single-player campaign a la Call Of Duty would be a huge addition.
