According to Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida, the PlayStation 4 will be region free. This functionality will allow gamers to purchase games anywhere in the world and play them on their PS4 without the need to have a console from the region they purchase games from. For example, if you live in Japan but buy a game from the US, you can play the US game on a Japanese system instead of needing a US system to play a US game.
