Sony has announced today that the PlayStation Store is getting a total overhaul, with a new look, new features and increased functionality coming next week. The storefront will now highlight new content and have separate dedicated sections for games, movies and TV. The search function will also be changed considerably by utilizing a better filtering system. The search will start looking for content based on the letters you are typing as opposed to having to complete a phrase to search for it. Searching for a game will gather all related content from demos to DLC to avatars. It will also recommend similar titles in the process.

You will notice that Sony has dropped the bright blue background for a sleeker black background. The redesigned PlayStation Store will be released in Europe on October 17th and North America on October 20th.
