After months and months of speculation of what the next inevitable title in the yearly Call Of Duty franchise could be, it’s Treyarch’s turn and most rumors are pointing towards Black Ops 2. But thanks to the official website we have a confirmed date! May 1st during the Basketball Playoffs on TNT according to the official Call Of Duty website, where the site shows a countdown to the reveal.

Honestly, I’m guessing it’s Black Ops 2. I know they registered Black Ops domains up to number 6, if I remember correctly. I’m hoping after this one they’ll take a year or two off, but then again I’ve said that for the last 2 years now, so it doesn’t seem likely.

With that said, yeah, Black Ops 2. It’s probably going to be on par, sales wise, with the MW3. I don’t know if it will sell as fast, but then again it’s Call of Duty, it’s going to sell a ton of copies.

Yeah and i’ve also learnt since posting this that in the website code someone found the words Black Ops and some copyright stuff so it’s looking more and more likely. Whilst in a way the series is bi-yearly as Treyarch and Infinity Ward take turns it’s very much the same game every year.

I don’t think we’ll see any major advancements in the engine until the next generation of consoles.

Maybe it’s just me as someone who isn’t a fan of the CoD franchise, I don’t hate it, but it just exhausts me hearing about one every year. I think if Activision gave both Treyarch and Infinity Ward more time, we’d see some advancements. Still, Activision is out to make money, so as long as it’s still selling I guess we’ll see a new Call of Duty every year.
