Times are getting tough out there for some game developers as Microsoft announced they’re closing a couple studios. Among them is Lionhead Studios in the UK. Lionhead Studios may be most famous as the studio behind the Fable series and was working on Fable Legends however, due to the closing of the studio, Fable Legends has now been canceled.

The closed beta for Fable Legends will remain open until April 13, to access the multiplayer. Additionally, only current players will be allowed to access the game as new players will no longer have access. The game’s bank has been pulled and any players that purchased in-game gold, which costs real money, will be offered refunds. Lionhead will keep players updated on how to get refunds.

Lionhead isn’t the only studio to close as Microsoft also announced the closure of Press Play Studios in Denmark. Press Play was working on a Project: Knoxville. On the closing of the studios, General Manager of Microsoft Studios Europe, Hanno Lemke said:

“We have nothing but heart-felt thanks for the members of Lionhead and Press Play for their contributions to Xbox and gaming. We are committed to working closely with those affected by today’s news to find them new opportunities at Xbox, or partnering with the broader development community to help place them in jobs elsewhere in the games industry should they desire.”

We at New Gamer Nation would like to wish nothing but the best for those affected by the closing of the studios.
