The bricks awaken! The latest Star Wars film is getting a LEGO make-over complete with an even-cuter BB-8. Is that even possible, I don’t know, but we will soon find out!

The trailer is a pretty shot-for-shot remake of the actual Force Awakens trailer, with plenty of the typical LEGO humour and unique twists which are the trademarks of its developer (as with all LEGO games) Travellers Tales, who said:

Lots of iconic scenes have been faithfully recreated

“It’s a massive honour to be able to work on a game tied to the incredible Star Wars universe; there are a lot of people at TT Games who hold Star Wars close to their hearts with it being the starting point for the LEGO games. Through a strong collaboration with Lucasfilm, we’ve been able to create new stories and adventures connecting the Star Wars narrative, both before and tying into the movie. As such huge fans of the franchise, it’s a tremendous honour to have that privilege. Everyone at TT Games is looking forward to revealing more of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens over the coming months. In the meantime —
May the Force be with you!” – Travellers Tales

Play as your favourite characters, new and old

This was originally leaked earlier today on the XBox store but it has now been officially announced, most likely pleasing plenty of both LEGO and Star Wars fans the world over. The listing read:
“In LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, players relive the epic action from the blockbuster film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, retold through the clever and witty LEGO lens. The game will also feature exclusive playable content that bridges the story gap between Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
So this quite possibly means that whilst the main component will be from December’s record-breaking film, it may also include content from this year’s upcoming “Star Wars: Rogue One”, due shortly before Christmas.

Looks like we’ll be able to play as our new friends Fin, Rey and BB-8, as well as series stalwarts like Han-Solo, General Leia and Chewbacca, plus about 194 other characters, if the recent LEGO Marvel Avengers game is anything to go by, which we reviewed here. Oh, and we’re going to be flying the Millennium Falcon. Which is awesome.

This latest LEGO game is due to release June 28th this year and the official trailer is now available here (via Star Wars’ official YouTube channel) and by the looks of it, the only way you won’t be able to play it, is if you are in a galaxy far far away as it appears to be releasing on everything.
