Quite possibly the best PC game ever, League of Legends, looks like it’s going to be headed to the Mac very soon! Steve “Udyr” Mieczkowski just announced that a League of Legends Mac client is available for testing on the Public Beta Environment. They’ve had a Mac Client in beta before, but they had to shut it down in September 2011 because it wasn’t able to have the same quality and frequency of updates that the PC version had. Steve mentioned that Riot’s rewritten a lot of the code so both platforms share the same code base, which will allow both clients to have the same updates, bug fixes and content all pushed out at the same time.
This is really great news for the game in general. No longer will a large population of Mac gamers be alienated from experiencing this awesome game. If you have a Mac and you’re trying to check it out, download the Mac PBE client here. By participating in the PBE you can help give them feedback and find bugs, which will ultimately help make the Mac client as good as it can be!
