Maybe you were like us when Konami announced that both Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes were two separate games. Today, Konami wanted to shed a little light on the games themselves and define how they relate to one another.
Ground Zeroes will launch in Spring 2014 as a prologue to the events leading into MGS V. This prologue is a concentrated story driven game that helps players get used to the new gameplay mechanics that will be introduced into MGS V. Ground Zeroes features new mechanics such as a new game design, day and night cycles, and weather conditions that will all dynamically affect gameplay.
Ground Zeroes follows Big Boss, as he infiltrates a remote Cuban prison camp on a rescue mission, all while trying to remain undetected. The situation develops quickly as he finds himself on behind enemy lines with little options for help. MGS V picks up where Ground Zeroes leaves off and will continue the new mechanics learned in Zeroes.
Both titles will be released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
