Looks like Agent 47 will have to shelf his sniper rifle, because the bald assassin is being put on hold till 2016. Square Enix announced that Hitman would be released on December 8th as a digital only title. After the game was released they planned to update it frequently with new levels and assassinations. It seems they might not be sticking to the originally plan and going for a more traditional release, now set for March 2016. This news has been confirmed via the Hitman website directly.

“We’re going for a new release model where we put out a good chunk of the game when it begins and then release the remaining locations over time. We want to make absolutely sure you all get the best possible experience when you join, so we’ve made the difficult decision to move the initial release date to March 2016. These few extra months will mean we can add more to the launch content of the game, more than we had originally planned, and then follow with a tighter frequency of updates, which ultimately will create a better game for everyone.”

I was really looking forward to this next installment of Hitman, but if waiting a little while means more content then I’m all for it. With the crowded Holiday season this year was Hitman on your radar? Let us know in the comments.
