Yeah the impact to single players was minimal and even before this generation of consoles there was no such thing as online multiplayer. I think the single players noticed because anything and everything connected to the PSN stopped working including netflix, hulu, video rental, PSN games, everything had issues. I am sure most people use their PS3's for more than just gaming and that's where the problems came up.

As a PS3 owner, I can see this affecting more of the independent companies that put out the download only games. As a consumer I'm VERY glad that I used the gift cards where I put $20 at a time. Identity theft can really happen to anyone, anywhere, at any given time. I completely agree that people might be playing it a little more safer with their credit card information.

I gotta back track a story here, about two weeks before the outage, a friend of mine (that doesn't know too much about systems) deleted all the saved games I had on my system because our internet crapped out. At first I was furious, then something happened. I played all the games I used to play on a regular basis. I was hooked again, and was reminded of the games that I love playing. I say this because the God of War trilogy, Burnout: Paradise, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011, Mortal Kombat, and the addition of L.A. Noire don't need multiplayer to enjoy them.

I also will mention I have 2 brothers that live with me, one of whom LOVES to play Call of Duty: Black Ops, however only plays online. So for that entire month he stayed away from the system, all because the multiplayer was down. The people that were affected were only the people who play multiplayer. We don't know for sure if credit card information was compromised, however as you and I stated, they might be playing it safer.

The point I'm making is that while the people that were affected are going to be up in arms about this whole thing, I think the people not affected weren't affected aren't going to say anything. Granted the multiplayer community is VERY vocal and there are A TON of people, those single players barely noticed and I don't think they missed a thing except maybe waiting on their DLC.
