The game is a wuxia inspired MMO, consisting of using the number key to combo using 10 moves, with 300-500 moves to choose from all done from actual Martial Arts mo cap. The game is made by Chinese company Snail Games.

The Community and Customer Service Manager stated that Age of Wushu was going to take a stand with its MMO- there would not be a money grab. There are no unlockable or purchasable items. Everything is on a level playing field in the game. There is also no subscription fee.

Then actress Adelaide Clemens, actor (of Game of Thrones fame) Kit Harrington, producer Samuel Hadida and director Michael J. Bassett were introduced.

Adelaide stated that she appreciated the mythology and respected the physicality of working on the set.

Michael J. Bassett stated that his favorite Silent Hill game was 3. Oddly enough, he also mentioned that his favorite type of game was a FPS and that his favorite console was PC. He stated he disliked bad video game movies and respected the depth that Konami gave to the Silent Hill franchise, the Easter Eggs and mythology.

When someone asked whether Bassett was willing to direct a Bioshock film, he replied that he was willing.

They ended the panel with a mannequin chase.

I have some doubts about the movie, because everything is too bright lit in the trailer i.e. an odd technical choice by Asylum or a theme park kid friendly ride. It looked more exotic, rather than scary. Furthermore, I spoke to Matthew Schuchman of the film criticism website Gene Shalit’s Mustache, who stated “the acting sucked.”

The demo did not really get into depth with story. It plays like a basic zombie action game like Resident Evil 4 if it was First Person: the controls are precise and the game is sort of on rails with closed corridors, but still has areas to explore which hopefully the developers will work on i.e. collector’s items/weapons.

So our Editor-in-Chief told me that one of the few things he wanted me to do was see a demo of Assassin’s Creed III.

The room is darkly lit, but has the production design of a Independence Day movie bar brawl.

They showed a big television screen.

I get to play on that thing right?

Then they had a woman who pretend it was Disneyland, despite the fact there was blood and violence in the game, telling us to blow into our free Tomahawk balloons at Comic Con. They told us to wave them proudly while chanting something whenever something they thought awesome happened. In the beginning, they showed Connor tree climbing before being stealth as is common in Assassin’s Creed games, before hunting deer. AWESOME. Being from an urban area such as New York City, no. But to others, possibly yes.

Then the demonstrator fought a wolf, some basic combatants, a boss, a snitch before blowing up a European camp and killing an Englishman with their own rifle. They presented the main quests, as well as interesting side quests that could be involved in the game. The announcer also discussed how snow slowed down the player in the game.

And that was it. No playable demo. Ubisoft got audience to watch someone, who they could not watch play the game, even though they already demonstrated it at San Diego Comic Con. Yippee! So there was not much for me to talk about regarding Assassin’s Creed III, especially the multiplayer that my Editor-in-Chief specifically requested!

At least I can give him three Tomahawk balloons.

At least it was not the Plants vs Zombies dunce caps at a certain PAX East.

Yay!
