Interview with Axiom Verge Creator Thomas Happ | PAX East 2015

Axiom Verge is far and away my favorite game that I saw this past weekend at PAX East 2015. At first glance you might mistake it as a classic Super Metroid clone which in and of itself wouldn’t be a bad thing considering it is one of my favorite games of all time, but in reality it is so much more. At it’s core Axiom Verge is a retro-styled 2D action-adventure Metroidvania game, but adds interesting features and power ups, most notably the “glitches”. Glitches in Axiom Verge are actually features and not a bug as it enables you to find hidden items, access various parts of the world, and completely change the behavior of enemies.

Thomas Happ has been incredibly busy for the past 5 years working on Axiom Verge as he is solely responsibly for programming the game, creating the music, and doing all of the art. Luckily for us, now that his work is complete he is out there sharing his beloved title with the world and gave us a few minutes of his time to talk about the game. Check out our interview below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Look for Axiom Verge on PS4 and PS Vita on March 31, 2015.
