Sony said just announced that they will stop supporting the YouTube app, the Maps app and the “near” feature in an upcoming firmware update. The YouTube app will be no longer be available to download starting today and official support will end on April 20th. As for the Near feature and Maps, they will loose functionality in the next firmware upgrade. Sony did not give a reason for downgrades, but it is assumed, at least for the YouTube app, that paying YouTube the rights to the app was getting more expensive than Sony was willing to spend on the system.
