Uncharted 4 is set to be released in the coming months and it seems the ending could be divisive or controversial to fans. The final code of the game has been finished and Neil Druckmann, the Creative Director of Naughty Dog, has stated the ending will have fans talking. Speaking to IGN at an Uncharted 4 gameplay event, Druckmann said “I think people will discuss the ending. If focus tests are anything to go by, there will be some arguments about the ending. I’m excited. Indifference would be the worst thing. I would rather have people hate it than be indifferent to it. We’ll see how they react.”

Druckmann also added he and the Naughty Dog team didn’t let the commentary or perception alter the ultimate vision of the game. “What I found is you kind of have to ignore other people. Any time you try to please something outside yourself, it can easily come off as false. Whenever we make something that’s honest to us that is the game we truly want to play, you know whether you succeed or not. You pick up the controller and you’re playing it and you’re like, ‘Am I feeling anything from these characters? Am I having fun? Am I intrigued? Am I bored? Do I even care about this character?’ And if not, OK, I need to fix that for myself. I found that the more we’ve done that, the more successful we’ve been, and that’s the only correlation I can come up with.”

Those looking for early spoilers, need not worry as Druckmann didn’t give away the ultimate fate as to what happens to Nathan Drake saying “Do you really want me to tell you? You don’t really want me to tell you”.

Uncharted 4 is set to be released on May 10.
