Sony has just announced that it will stop shipping new PSPs to Japanese retailers at the end of this month. Sony has already discontinued the device in the US back in January, however, Europe will still get new devices until later this year. The news comes just short of the device’s 10 year anniversary on the market.

While the device never came close to beating its Nintendo rival, the Nintendo DS, it still sold roughly 80 million units which is an impressive feat in and of itself. Godspeed PSP, you will be sorely missed.
