It seems that old is the new black. A Sony representative told Wired, Sony is working on some type of emulation technology to bring Playstation 2 games to the PS4. They told Wired via an email, “We are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation”.

The first batch of PS2 games that could be using the emulation software are available via the Star Wars: Battlefront Playstation 4 bundle. These games are Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, and Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. According to the Digital Foundry, as reported by Eurogamer, some of the games aren’t simply ports of old code to the PS4. There’s evidence to suggest that they’re running on emulation software.

Could this be the move to combat the Xbox One’s backward compatibility? Is this even a game changer for you? Let us know in the comments below and stay right here to New Gamer Nation as your source for all things gaming.
