Sony has recently been doing a lot of good things with the Playstation brand of the company. Now, Sony is set to merge a couple branches of the company under the Playstation banner. Effective April 1, Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment will become Sony Interactive Entertainment, LLC. The current president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Andrew House, will head the newly-formed company, with current CEO Sony, Kazuo Hirai, on the board.

In a press release House said:

“By integrating the strengths of PlayStation’s hardware, software, content and network operations, SIE will become an even stronger entity, with a clear objective to further accelerate the growth of the PlayStation® business. Along with our business partners, SIE will develop pioneering services and products that will continue to inspire consumers’ imaginations and lead the market. We will work hard to maximize corporate value by coordinating global business operations across San Mateo, Tokyo, and London by leveraging local expertise.”

The new offices will now be in under one roof in San Mateo, California and not Tokyo. SIE will now combine the resources of both offices to seek to bring better hardware and software, and bring a better overall experience to the Sony customers.
