In an unfortunate set of circumstances, Sony has just confirmed that in addition to the PlayStation 4 having zero backwards compatibility, digital purchases made on the PS3 will not carry over to the PS4. This is extremely disappointing news considering that most gamers have spent money in the PSN and those investments are now lost in the next generation of systems. It is worth noting that Sony is looking into a way to stream PS1, PS2 and PS3 games over the cloud to consoles everywhere to add that backwards compatibility. However, the technology or the logistics of such a solution is still not 100% materialized or explained at this point in time.
