Getting ready to be released soon is the upcoming sequel to the 2009 smash hit Prototype by Radical Entertainment. For those that remember the original game, they will remember a visceral and bloody campaign uncovering the uncertainty and mystery surrounding Alex Mercer. Prototype 2 wants to up the ante and focus on what players enjoyed about the first game, powerful biological abilities and the means to wage war against your enemies. Well ask and ye shall receive.

This sequel continues the story of Sgt. James Heller, who you play as in this game, and your target Alex Mercer. This game promises players an even larger game than before with lots of new enemies, powers and characters while still keeping the open-world feel of the original game.

The game will allow players to a new level of customization. You get to decide the powers that James has. With plenty of new genetic and biological weapons at your disposal, players can tailor their own experience. Whether you prefer a more melee centered character or one with more range, the choices are seemingly endless.

The backdrop of Prototype 2 is known as New York Zero. It is the ruins of the New York City we all know. The city is divided into three different zones. The green zone is the area of the city controlled by the military. The yellow zone is where all the survivors are stationed. Finally, the red zone is the war torn areas where the infection grows unchecked. Players will have the freedom to explore these areas at will, just as they did in the original game.

There are plenty of other details available but when describe them when you can see them for yourself. Check out the latest trailer below.

Prototype 2 hits shelves on April 24th for the Playstation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
