News: Walking Dead FPS Announced

by

It appears that Telltale Games won’t be the only studio to have a hand in the Walking Dead videogame adaptations. The studio will continue to release their episodic shorts, however Activision just recently announced that they will be developing a new first-person shooter based on AMC’s The Walking Dead TV series. According to IGN, the game will be handled by Terminal Reality and the story will center on Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle, as they sneak and fight their way through the Georgia countryside. Players will assume the role of Daryl and according to Activision “no place is truly safe for Daryl as he makes his way through the Georgia countryside in this new, post-apocalyptic world.”

Players will need to be resourceful and manage their supplies accordingly, for they will be scarce throughout the game. According to IGN, Daryl will meet a number of other characters along his journey that can either help or hurt him, and it is up to the player as to whether or not these characters will accompany Daryl.

In an era where zombie inspired first-person shooters are abundant, it will be interesting to see how this one stacks up. The Walking Dead: The Game is set to release in 2013 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
