Thatgamecompany, known for their popular titles such as FlOw, Flower and the recent release Journey, will now release games independently after the end of their three-game partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment.

Up until this point, Thatgamecompany has exclusively released their titles on Sony’s Playstation system, but after raising 5.5 million dollars in funds from Benchmark Capital, TGC is now able to release their games to other platforms. Jenova Chen, co-producer of Thatgamecompany writes “This enables us to bring our games to more platforms and provide our players the highest quality experience at every point of contact.”

Mitch Laskey from Benchmark Capital will now join TGC’s board of directors due to the funding, Chen states that “Together we share a vision for bringing emotionally compelling interactive entertainment to players worldwide.”

Thatgamecompany has released a total of three game with their most recent, Journey, becoming the fastest-selling game on PSN. Chen states that details about the developers next project will be coming soon.
