News: Microsoft Studios veteran and WB general manager joins Epic Seattle studio

Last month, news was revealed that Epic games had opened a new studio in Seattle that will be focused on the development of the next generation Unreal Engine 4 with multiple position listings on the Unreal website. Epic today has announced that they have hired Laura Fryer, a veteran in the game development scene working with both Microsoft Studios and Warner Brothers Games Seattle. She will be taking over as the General Manager of the studio bringing with her more than 17 years of experience.

Laura Flyer, prior to joining epic has acted as the General Manager at WB games overseeing the game development of the studio including Monolith, the creators of the recent “Gotham City Impostors and the soon to be released “Guardians of Middle Earth”

She was also one of Microsofts first employees; Fryer has shipped several games as a producer including acting as the executive producer for Gears of War and Gears of War 2. She also served as the director of the Xbox Advance Technology Group and also as a founding member of the Xbox project where she was responsible for generating worldwide support for the Xbox platform.

“Laura Fryer is one of the brightest leaders of the game industry today, and we’re thrilled to have her guide our new Seattle studio,” Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps said today. He also followed up to say “Laura was a key member of the ‘Gears of War’ team, and we’ve long hoped to work with her again.”
