When Day Z hit over one million people playing a mod you created, it's probably time for a new step forward. Day Z, the zombie mod for ARMA II, is becoming a standalone game. Developer Bohemia Interactive, creators of ARMA II, will take care of its development, along with Dean “Rocket” Hall, who started Day Z, acting as project lead.
“Develop
ment and updates of the mod will continue in parallel with the development of the game, so anyone who is playing the mod now will be able to continue to do so,” Hall wrote on his blog. “The project will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price.”
We've been told the official website will be updating us over the next few weeks and months.
