Through a software update, released today, the Nvidia Shield now has the capability to stream PC games to the TV in 1080p at 60 fps using the handheld’s console mode feature.  Before the update the Shield could only handle streaming PC games at 720p with the device’s Gamestream technology.  The recent update also improves the 720p streaming mode and the Gamepad Mapper feature as well.

Currently there are only 63 titles (including Borderlands 2, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag and Batman: Arkham Origins) that are officially supported by the Gamestream technology, but Nvidia states that more games will be added weekly.
