It has been confirmed that Xbox Live will incorporate a “reputation system” for the Xbox One.  The system aims to reduce the number of “troublemakers and cheaters” that you’ll have to deal with on Xbox Live.  There isn’t a whole lot of information about the system, but Microsoft’s chief production officer of interactive entertainment, Marc Whitten, offers this letter:

Reputation: Your new Xbox Live Reputation plays a prominent and valuable role rewarding healthy participation while reducing troublemakers and cheaters. A unified system across Xbox Live and all of your games allows for you to have much more control over who you play with while giving you new and exciting ways to get even move involved in your community.

The Reputation will also work in conjunction with Xbox One’s new match making system, Smart Match.   “Smart Match expands options for game creators to match players based on skill, language and now reputation.”  Seems like using this feature will allow you to search and find fellow skilled players for your matches while allowing you to avoid unworthy jerks.
