NetherRealm Studios has released a new trailer which sheds some light on the story mode. NetherRealm has proven that story mode can work well in a fighting game. They previously worked on Injustice: Gods Among Us, which had a great story mode even for those who don’t enjoy fighting games. The trailer also introduces a lot of new faces along with some familiar ones as playable characters.

Mortal Kombat X is set 15 years after 2011’s Mortal Kombat and features many descendants of popular kombatants. The trailer focuses on Jacqueline Briggs, daughter of Jax,  Kenshi the blindswords mens’ son Takashi Takeda. Rounding out the special forces is Kung Jin, who’s ancestor is Kung Lao. The trailer also hints at Mileena and the elder god Shinnok being playable.

Mortal Kombat is set to release April 14 and so far 18 characters are confirmed as playable. Let us know who you want to see in the game, I personally can’t wait till they reveal Stryker, the police officer. You can read why Mortal Kombat X is one of my most anticipated games here.
