Microsoft Memo Reportedly Debunks “Always Online” Rumor

An email sent to all Microsoft full time employees today suggests that the next-Xbox does not need to be constantly online. Here is a snoppet of that email:

There are a number of scenarios that our users expect to work without an Internet connection, and those should ‘just work’ regardless of their current connection status. Those include, but are not limited to: playing a Blu-ray disc, watching live TV, and yes playing a single player game.[/gn_quote]

Microsoft has been battling a barrage of rumors targeted at the next Xbox always needing a live internet connection since the PS4 debuted earlier this year. With only a few weeks to go to the reveal, let’s see what the official event says about the console. At this point, any information about the console should be considered a rumor.
