Today, Maxim and Epic Games have announced a partnership on Gears of War: Judgement where the men’s magazine Maxim will sponsor some post-release map packs and an all new game mode. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed but this is what you can expect from Gears of War: Judgement courtesy of Maxim.

  • Two new maps called Capitol and Haven. Haven features a frozen ice-covered world in the Azura mountains on Planet Sera. Details on Capitol have not been released.
  • An all new mode called Execution. In this mode, when players are shot, they enter a downed state and a “bleed-out” timer starts. To get the kill the other player must perform an execution which finishes off the downed player. The object of the mode is to kill all the members on the other team via execution.

Epic also mentioned that though the content will be sponsored by Maxim, it will not result in an in-game Maxim-branded content. The sponsorship deal allows Epic to release the content for free, as opposed to paid DLC.

Gears of War: Judgment is due out exclusively on Xbox 360 on March 19th, 2013. This sponsored content will drop for free on April 2

Since this mode is in all the previous games, I would not call it “all-new.”

It may not be “all-new” to the franchise, but it will be “all-new” to the game upon release, since it is not included in the retail release of the game.

I hope they come up with an-all new mode where you have to survive a horde of locust. Sounds like it works be a great addition to the gears of war games
