In a bit of Kingdom Hearts III news, Square Enix has confirmed that Kingdom Hearts III will pick up after the cliffhanger in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream, Drop, Distance. The game will feature the final battle with Master Xehanort, which is what the series has been leading up to this whole time. It was also confirmed that this game will bring the series to an end.

As for the game itself, it was hinted that there will be a playable Riku and Kairi, updated visuals, an improved AI system, and a new tougher version of Sora. Look for more details on the game during this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

Dude you’re wrong. It was NOT confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 3 will end the series. Kingdom Hearts 3 will end the Xehanort Saga NOT series. Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that after Kingdom Hearts 3 a new Kingdom Hearts game will come with a new villain, new story, and new saga.

I think we are both saying the same thing but using different vocabulary. I didn’t say that it was the end of the franchise or that they’d never make another KH game again. I just said it was the end of the current series of games which is completely true.

Also Tetsuya Nomura did not confirm the existence of another game after KH3. He may have expressed interest but there is definitely nothing confirmed on that front. KH3 is still very early in development so for them to promise games before the current one is even developed makes bad business sense.
