Ubisoft announced today all sorts of good stuff for their free-to-play shooter Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online game. For starters the 0.10.0 update brings new content including the ‘Holdout’ game mode, the Balaklava Sub Pen map, Clan Matches, and several game service improvements/fixes. Next the all new Triton Pack provides naval-themed avatars, weapons, and armor.

We’re really excited about the 0.10.0 update. The Holdout mode and the Balaklava Sub Pen map offer new tactical challenges and experiences to the community, and decking out your Ghost in the new Triton gear makes them look awesome.

We’re also keeping our promise to the community with the introduction of the Clan Match feature. Fighting alongside your clan mates and friends, challenging another clan; social competition is such an integral part of the GRO experience, and this feature goes a long way towards fueling this experience.

-Theo Sanders, Game Producer

Holdout Game Mode
Both sides will contend over a single capture point located in the center of the map. Gain control of the point and maintain control of it until the round ends to claim victory. There are shorter round timers and with both teams closing in on the single control point, expect tons of action going down in Holdout mode.

Balaklava Sub Pen Map
Inspired by the formerly classified underground submarine facility in the Ukraine, this map was designed specifically with the new Holdout Game mode in mind. The map is both symmetrical and compact in design allowing players of all skill levels plenty of opportunities to jump into the fray. Choose a strategy that works for you. Hold the bridge with an high vantage point or flank the other team using the tunnels. The choice is yours.

Clan Matches
After clans were added back in October 2012, the developers wanted to add to the concept. You can now setup custom matches against other clans by forming a square from your clan mates, picking a map of your choice, and sending out challenges to rival clans to find out truly who is the best of the best.

If you are looking to pick up the Triton pack, you need to jump on that pretty quick as it will only be available for a limited time through the month of January. Check out the new screenshots and trailer entitled “Luck Don’t Live Here” below and let us know what you think.
