Earlier this year, there were reports Warner Bros. have picked up the movie rights to Five Nights at Freddy’s. According to Deadline, it now appears those plans are indeed moving further as Warner Bros. have made a deal with Gil Kenan to direct the live-action adaptation of the horror game. Kenan has worked on the Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis produced animated film Monster House, and the adaptation of the young adult novel City of Ember. Kenan also has experience with horror films as he directed the remake to the Poltergeist film which was released earlier this year.

Kenan will not only direct but write the movie alongside Tyler Burton Smith. Smith is known for his writing work on video games such as Prototype 2, Sleeping Dogs, and the upcoming Remedy action title Quantum Break. Roy Lee is producing with Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg and Adam Stone and Jay Ireland are exec producing with Jon Berg and Nik Mavinkurve overseeing for the studio.
