Major Nelson just confirmed that Assassin’s Creed 2 would be the next free title in the Xbox “Games With Gold” Program!

The program was introduced this year at E3 and it originally highlighted Halo 3 and Assassin’s Creed 2 as titles that would be available for free to Xbox Live Gold Members.  Microsoft later clarified that one game would be free for two weeks, every two weeks, until the end of the year.  The current free game in the program is Defense Grid: The Awakening, and the first free game introduced was Fable 3.

So Assassin’s Creed 2, arguably the best game in the series, will be free July 16th.  That’s something pretty awesome to look forward too!
